The trip
Description
From the ferry Genoa to the streets of the Empire.
From Tangier the route passes through Rabat and its Mosque, then Casablanca and Essaouira, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the capital of argan. Continue towards Tiznit and Tafraout, between the beaches of Legzira and the Aït Mansour Gorges.
The Tizi-n-Test, passing 2,093 metres into the High Atlantic, opens the gates of Marrakech: palaces, mosques, souks and Jemaa El Fna Square, between Arab-Andalusian cultures and Berber and African civilizations.
The Tichka Pass, the desert of Merzouga and Fes.
The Tichka Pass, the highest in Morocco at 2,260 metres, leads to Aït Benhaddou and the Todra Gorges, up to the edge of the Merzouga desert. Then Khenifra and Fez, a World Heritage city with its Medina, the largest and oldest in the country.
The return crosses the Rif and Chefchaouen, the blue city, to Tanger Med for the night boat and the ferry back to Genoa.
